To Be A Thunderbird

“What do you look for in a band member?”

Kim: You have to be able to do a lot of things. If you’re going to be playing blues, you have to have your own take on it and you have to be able to do it really well.

Let’s say you get a guy who’s a pretty good blues player. Well, pretty good isn’t good enough. You have to be really good. It’s got to be great. That’s the first step right there.

But then you have to know all this other stuff. You have to know rock ‘n’ roll. You have to know R&B. You have to know how to write.

And of course, like I said before, you have to have your own take on things. If it’s going to sound like someone else, it’s not going to be good for anybody.

And you have to be very, very proficient at your instrument on top of that.
